Today

Tania has been joined by Dr Nathan Phung, Dr Louise Tharavaja and Dr Lyndall Smythe, who continue to work as associate dentists within the practice.

No practice can perform without talented office, reception and support staff – and Essendon Dental Group is no exception. Vicki Anastasiou has been with the practice since 1987 in her role as practice manager. Our lovely nursing and reception staff include Sarah, Nicole, Veronica, Michelle, Fiona and Ting.

In 2015, Dr John Matthews and Dr Stephen Brennan retired from clinical dentistry, and Tania took over as principal dentist.

Bert Matthews retired in 1983 (after over 50 years in the profession). The practice was expended further to include a fifth surgery in the west side.

In the late 1970’s two dentists, Drs Gerard Condon and Stephen Brennan, joined the practice and became partners.

In 1965 when his son, Dr John Matthews, joined the practice the eastern side of the premises was modified to include four surgeries overlooking the back garden.

Dr. Herbert (Bert) Matthews started the current practice in 1933 when he purchased the property. The dental rooms were relatively modest and occupied the western corner of the building.
